The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is an organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and promoting education. The SAR has an Outreach Education Program open to the public visitors and educators who may use the material for their educational purposes. KEYHOLES TO HISTORY
Keyhole to History is part of an educational audio series about the American Revolution. Each segment is paired with lesson units and targeted to students, teachers, and the public. Approximately 60 seconds in length, each Keyhole to History is focused on providing background information to encourage further inquiry. nEW ACTIVITY 250th Anniversary Boston Tea Party Patriot Adventure
Background: On November 29, 1773, the Sons of Liberty of Boston, MA, organized a meeting inprotest of the British Parliament’s tax on tea. The British ships Dartmouth, Eleanor, and Beaverhad arrived bearing 340 chests (92,000 lbs.) of tea for the colonies. Protests by the Patriots keptthe tea from being unloaded. Following another meeting on December 16, a group of Patriots,disguised as Mohawk Indians, boarded the three ships and hurled the tea into Boston Harbour,resulting in a loss of$1.7 million of cargo.

1. Tea Time!: Tea was a household staple in the colonies, and drinking tea was a cultural way oflife, much like coffee drinking is today. 2. Make Tea: Demonstrate the brewing of loose leaf tea, having students participate in the boilingof water and the filtering and pouring of tea as is appropriate and safe for the age of yourstudents. Everyone can enjoy a taste!
